Cuanto Él nos ama

Hace tan solo una semana fue Viernes Santo, un día para recordar la muerte de Jesucristo. Esta verdad paradójica es extraña a muchos, pero para nosotros los creyentes, la verdad es que la muerte de Jesus es digna de celebrar. “El mensaje de la cruz es una locura para los que se pierden; en cambio, para los que se salvan, es decir, para nosotros, este mensaje es el poder de Dios” (Primera Corintios 1:18). Por medio de la muerte de Jesus, podemos vivir.

Celebramos nuestro servicio del Viernes Santo con la Iglesia del Nazareno. Tomamos la Cena del Señor, leímos las Escrituras, y cantamos alabanzas a Dios. “Porque cada vez que comen este pan y beben de este copa, proclaman la muerte del Señor hasta que él venga” (Primera Corintios 11:26). Fue una celebración hermosa entre las dos congregaciones.

La buena noticia es que Cristo no está muerto, sino que él VIVE!

El Domingo pasado se celebró la resurrección de Cristo; dia mas conocido como el Domingo de Resurrección.

Muchas personas ponen sus esperanzas en las cosas del mundo, aun cuando éstas son insuficientes para satisfacerles. Por eso pon tu esperanza en Jesus y la vida eterna que él te ha traido. “Pero Dios demuestra su amor por nosotros en esto: en que cuando todavía éramos pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros” (Romanos 5:8).

Seguiremos recordando cuanto nos ama nuestro Padre, no jactándonos sino en la cruz y celebrando la resurección de nuestro Señor.

“Nosotros, que hemos muerto al pecado, ¿cómo podemos seguir viviendo en él? ¿Acaso no saben ustedes que todos los que fuimos bautizados para uniros con Cristo Jesús, en realidad fuimos bautizados para participar en su muerte? Por tanto, mediante el bautismo fuimos sepultados con él en su muerte, a fin de que así como Cristo resucitó por el poder del Padre también nosotros lleva una vida nueva” (Romanos 6: 2-4).

O, How much He loves us

A week from today was Good Friday, a day to celebrate the death of Jesus Christ. This paradoxical truth is foreign to most, but to the believers we know that the death of Christ is worthy of celebration. “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). Through the death of Christ, we have access to eternal life.

We combined our Good Friday service with the Concord Community Church of the Nazarene. We took communion, read the Scriptures y worshiped God. “For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes”(1 Corinthians 11:26). It was a beautiful celebration having both congregations worship together.

The good news is that Christ is not dead, but that He LIVES! Last Sunday we celebrated the resurrection of Christ, known as Resurrection Sunday.

A lot of people put their faith and hopes in the things of the World, but all those things will prove to never eternally satisfy. Put your hope in Jesus and the eternal life that He has brought. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

We will continue to remember how much God loves us. Boast in the Cross and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord.

“By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:2-4).

Dios es Bueno

Apreciados hermanos, hermanas y amigos de nuestro ministerio,
                Estamos muy felices de poder compartir con todos ustedes, las buenas noticias de la solución del caso por la pérdida del edificio de nuestra iglesia.
Como muchos de ustedes se enteraron, durante la inundación del 2010, lo perdimos casi todo, menos una cosa: Nuestra fe!
                Han transcurrido casi dos años desde aquel trágico fin de semana, en donde pudimos comprobar el amor y la gracia de Dios sobre nuestra congregación, al ser acogidos la semana siguiente a la inundación, por nuestros queridos hermanos de la iglesia Concord Community Church of the Nazarene a la cabeza de su pastor Tom Todd.
                Nos faltan palabras para agradecerles, por haber abierto las puertas de su iglesia, para que asi pudieramos continuar nuestro ministerio.
                Fueron casi dos años de discusiones extenuantes, donde por la gracia de Dios y la asesoría de la iglesia Fellowship Bible Church a través de nuestros queridos hermanos Tony Roberts y Tom Clagett, entre otros, quienes nos ayudaron con consejo sabio para poder caminar este duro sendero.
                Fueron también muchas otras personas las que se unieron con palabras de apoyo, aliento, afirmación, y sobretodo oración para que no perdieramos la fe.
Nuestra congregación se sostuvo en pie gracias a la confianza que mantuvimos en las promesas de Dios y a la fidelidad de la mayoria de sus miembros. Gracias a todos ellos por creer en nosotros.
Gracias a todas y cada una de las personas que intervinieron. Debemos reconocer tambien el excelente trabajo de la firma de abogados que nos represento, pues ayer pudimos concluir este penoso capítulo de nuestro ministerio, que por poco acaba con lo poco que quedo en pie, ya que estuvimos en riesgo de ser obligados a pagar todo lo que debiamos desde Mayo del 2,010, adicional a la totalidad de la deuda de la hipoteca, mas los costos legales.
               Hoy podemos reportar que el acuerdo final concluyó con el perdón total de la deuda con el banco, la restitución del terreno a nuestro nombre y dinero en efectivo para pagar casi en su totalidad nuestros gastos legales.
              La Gloria sea para Dios!
              Esto nos permitira ahora volver a iniciar desde donde empezamos hace cerca de 7 años, a “construir” de nuevo todo lo que perdimos.
              Una vez mas, gracias a todos por su apoyo y oraciones, pues sabemos que fueron ellos los que nos permitieron llegar hasta aquí.
             No nos cansaremos de repetir las palabras de Job:
“Jehová dio,y Jehová quito; sea el Nombre de Jehová bendito”

God is Good

Dear brothers, sisters and friends of our ministry,
                 We are happy to share the good news of the settlement of the case for the loss of our church building with you. Yesterday March 29th all parties reached a favorable resolution.
After losing our church building and assets in the 2010 flood, there was one thing that was left intact: our faith.
                Thanks to the generosity of Concord Community Church of the Nazarene and Pastor Tom Todd we have been able to have a place to meet since the flood. We lack words to thank this body of believers who graciously extended their hands with the compassion and love of Christ
After two years of uncertainties and many discussions and legal procedures, today is a new beginning for El Shaddai. We are so appreciative of the wise counsel and companion of   Fellowship Bible Church, our faithful friends Tony Roberts and Tom Clagett, and others leaders that walked with us this difficult path.
                  Thank you to all of those that always had a word of encouragement, affirmation and above all, prayer.
                 Through faith we were able to stand on God’s promises to overcome all odds with victory for his Glory.
We must also recognize the excellent work of the law firm that represented us, as we concluded this painful chapter in our ministry. We were at risk of having to pay for all the debt of the property, which had lost all its value after the flood.
                  Today the mediation reached a favorable solution for all parties involved. The Bank forgave El Shaddai of the loan, and will receive the deed of trust for the land and building.
We will also be able receive a small amount of funds that will allow us to pay for the majority of he legal expenses. Glory be to God!
                   This will allow us now to start all over again. With the same faith we did 7 years ago.
Once again, thank you all for your support and prayers,

Somos Sus Manos…..

Puede ser algo dificil cuando tratamos de seguir a Cristo. Sobre todo cuando nos enfrentamos a diversas pruebas (Santiago 2:1, 1 Pedro 1:6-7), cuando se nos ha prometido que “ para los que aman a Dios, todas las cosas les ayudan a bien”, (Romanos 8:28, Génesis 50:20 ), y cuando vemos el gran amor de Dios, que hasta permite que el enemigo tome todo de nosotros (Job 1:16), para que al final nos parezcamos más a Cristo. Cuando las promesas de Dios se sienten lejanas??, y queremos ayudar a los demás a responder de una manera digna del Evangelio de Cristo. Por eso queremos caminar con ustedes de la mano, y, ofrecer todo tipo de oportunidades de alcance, con la ayuda de gente imperfecta, pero llena del amor de Cristo.

Asi es que, semanalmente tenemos las siguientes actividades:

Para los solteros 18 a 30 años, hay reunions los jueves a las 6:30 pm.
Los Domingos nos reunimos desde las 11:00AM- al medio dia, para ser discipulados por otros compañeros, al mismo tiempo aprendemos lo que es hacer discípulos.
Junto con los servicios de oración y clases Bíblicas en la noche del Martes de 7:00-8:30 pm, tenemos la noche para jóvenes de 6 º grado en adelante.
También contamos con la Escuela de Música todos los Martes de 6:30PM-8:30PM, para niños que quieren aprender más acerca de Cristo y de la música.
Para las niñas se ofrecen clases de ballet, los sábados 9AM a 12M como un medio de establecer relaciones y una oportunidad de acercarse más a Cristo.
“Mano a Mano” es un programa de tutoria que se ofrece todos los Martes de 5PM a 6:30PM para los niños que necesitan ayuda con sus tareas o en algún área académica de la escuela, con la participación y ayuda de tutores cristianos.
Por último, hay muchas oportunidades de evangelización y alcance. Uno de ellas es el programa “Preguntar y Actuar” (ASK n ACT”). Esta es una oportunidad para alcanzar a los jóvenes en las escuelas públicas y en particular a los que están en la escuela secundaria de Antioch.

We are His Hands…..

Sometimes trying to follow Christ can be a very difficult thing. Especially when we face trials of many kinds (James 2:1, 1 Peter 1:6-7), when we are promised that all things work out for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28, Genesis 50:20), and when God loves us so much that He allows the enemy to take everything from us (Job 1:16), so that in the end we become more like Christ. When the promises of God feel heavy, we want to help each other respond in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ. We want to walk with you Hand in Hand; and, offer all types of opportunities to help surround you by people who are not perfect but love Christ with all their hearts.

For this reason we have the following activities every week:

For singles from 18-30 we meet on Thursdays at 6:30pm.
For anyone, we meet on Sundays from 11:00-Noon, to be disciple by other Godly peers; while also learning what it looks like to make other disciples
Along with Tuesday night services from 7:00-8:30pm, we have Tuesday Youth Night for 6^th graders and up.
We also have School of Music on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30pm for those children who want to learn more about Christ and music.
For girls we offer Dance Classes on Saturdays from 9am-12m as a means for fellowship and an opportunity to draw closer to Christ.
There is a tutoring program, “Hand in Hand” on Tuesdays from 5 to 6:30pm for those children who need help in school; and are paired with a Christian Tutor.
Finally, there are plenty of outreach opportunities. One being “Ask n Act” This is an opportunity to reach out to the youth in Public Schools and mainly those at Antioch High.
